2025 is the year of the 250th Anniversary of the United States Marine Corps! Traditionaly regarded to have been formed at Tun Tavern in Philidelphia on 10 November, 1775. The Continental Congress authorized the establishment of two battalions and the tavern is the site that the initial recuits were enlisted. This etched Tun Tavern forever into history as the birthplace of the Marine Corps!
We will be celebrating our 250th with a Marine Coprs Ball this year on Saturday, 8 November at the Elks Lodge in Savoy Il. Ball attendance is open to everone. Rep. Brandun Schweizer was appointed to the 104th House District in December of 2023, to fill the vacancy of retiring Rep. Mike Marron. The 104th House District is comprised of parts of Vermilion and Champaign counties, in east central Illinois.
Originally from northern Indiana, Rep. Schweizer, Ret. United States Marine Corps Master Sergeant made his way to Danville while serving as a Recruiter for the USMC. Over the course of his 21-year career with the USMC, Rep. Schweizer also served as an Intelligence Analyst and Equal Opportunity Advisor.
Rep. Schweizer retired from the USMC in January. Following his military career, Rep. Schweizer served the City of Danville as a Code Enforcement Inspector. He is also a member of the IBEW Labor Union.
During his deployments, Rep. Schweizer’s wife, Amy, developed Tiny Troops Soccer, a soccer program to engage young children living on military bases with the fundamentals of the sport. Originally operating out of their city of Danville, the business now has 82 programs on different military bases, both in the United States and internationally.
Rep. Schweizer and his wife reside in Danville with their three sons.

1 challenge coin will be given to each Marine in attendance at this year's 250th Birthday Ball. If we have any left at the end of the night, they can be purchased for $10.00 each by anyone.

If you are wanting to purchase them at the door, please let us know by October 24th so that we have a sufficient head count for the caterer. 250th Birthday Ball Mixer Glass
We have purchased 100 250th Birthday Ball mixer glasses that will be placed on the tables until we have placed them all. These are free for attendees to take home with them. We apologize but it will be first come, first served and we ask that you limit yourself to one glass per person. Thank you and enjoy the Ball!
